How to remove the Active Desktop in Windows 95

If you discovered that you accidentally installed the Active Desktop when installing IE 4.0? Here's how to remove it.
Go to the start menu with Control+Escape, or the Windows Start button
Press the down arrow until you find Settings in the Start menu and press enter. Note you can also press the letter s and if it finds Settings on the first try it will open it for you.
Now press enter on Control Panel, and press the letter a until you locate Add/Remove programs, and press enter.
Press the tab key once to open the list of programs.
Press the down arrow to find Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0.
Press the tab key once to the Add/Remove button, and press enter.
You will land on an OK button, and you should press the tab key three times. This will put you on the first of three radio buttons.
Press the down arrow two times. This will tell you that you can remove the Active Desktop and you should press tab once and press enter.
WIN95 will try to close any applications. When it is complete you should reboot the system.
